The Probst book is a good starting point for a beginner. You won't be disappointed to have it in your library.
I wanted sensor descriptions, with tables of values for the various sensors. I found the Mitchell books, an American publication for professional mechanics, to have what I wanted. I don't know, but I think that all the info was gotten directly from the Helms books (Ford's repair manuals), so it might be repetitive if you have those.
If you have CD-ROM, the ALLDATA CD might be worthwhile, as it has wiring diagrams, I think, and a list member was happy with the 29.95 US$ he spent.
I've found what I wanted. It's a book put out by Allan Slocum. I now resell them for $16 delivered. See the product description for more details.
