Idle Air Control:

Category: Engine Control

Comments

This is the cylindrical thingy mounted at an angle on the side of the throttle body. It has a two pin connector on it. The IAC is a valve that allows air to go around the throttle. This is how the computer controls idle speed. Sometimes if the engine has been running bad for other reasons, it might get gummed up. Remove and clean with carb cleaner.

If the carb cleaner doesn't burn your bare hands, you need different stuff....

Not much more to it than that.
