This particular system sucks. The relay box, the fan, everything. I recommend you replace it all.
Anyway, parts locations: the fan controller is under the dash, just ahead of your left knee, if you're sitting in a proper, not slouched position. The connector there melts, and the one on the fan melts too. Since I saw a car in the junkyard where the fan connector obviously caused the fire, that ended that car's life, I'd just shitcan it all.
Aftermarket replacements are cheap and more reliable in my opinion. If you're really cheap, a SS flex fan works well in Fox chassis'd cars, but there's not enough room in a Merkur.
