"Premium Mode" switch

All Turbo EECs with premium/unleaded mode, use pin 30, except the 87-88 Turbo Coupe, which is on pin 24.

PIN 24-OCT ADJ switch - 1987-88 Turbo Coupe

For 84-85.5 SVOs, it uses pin 30 to the EEC for adjusting the timing tables, and another separate wire to the boost control solenoid amplifier. BTW, if you are stuck at 10 PSI on a 84-85 SVO, check the fuse in the inline holder behind the ashtray.  If it's blown, replace it with a 2 amp slow-blo fuse from Radio Shack.

On 85.5-86 SVOs the wire *only* went to the EEC and the EEC controlled the BCS directly.

I am aware that there are published wiring diagrams that show differently, but they are wrong. In fact, I have never seen a wiring diagram for any year SVO that is correct!

Merkur EECs don't have a premium mode, so it doesn't matter what car that EEC is in.

Actually I don't believe this, but haven't proved it yet :)

Regarding:

> have the wires at all for the switch, but they are really easy to add)

Yes they did, it's the NDS pin, pin 30.  So the manual tranny cars are always in premium

mode when in gear. Automatics are not.  So make sure your NDS switch works.
