re: the standard FelPro head gasket spec'd for the turbo engines.
Category: Engine
Rick Byrnes said something in the last couple of years. Just another case of the suppliers picking the lowest common denominator amongst the 2.3 engine combos, and us getting the shaft.
The old blue fel pro turbo gasket was ok. The new one is grey and is no good. Rick Byrnes said so, and that's all I need to know.
I just use 1035s on all my cars, and all the engines I help people with now. The last and last. I'm re-using now the one that was in my Ranger when it blew up, in a different engine. It runs just fine in the new engine.
As I've said before, the 93 Ranger head bolts are 6 sided not 12 point like the old ones, and they work really well with the 1035. I can sell them for $35 a set delivered. Depending on your Ford dealer, you can get them from $18 to $80. If you can get them for less than me, go for it. If they quote you more than $30, then you know to get them from me. I don't have the part number handy. Let the Ford parts guy look em up. It's a kit with all 10 in it. If he says they come individually, ouch, that's the expensive ones.
