I'm announcing the closing of Turbo Tek Toys, effective today, April 1st,

1998. Smartworx Solutions (SmartWorx.com) has become wildly successful,

practically overnight. Consequently, Friday is my last day of work at my

normal job, and I'm trimming my other activities back to minimum as well.

I used to run around on my lunch hour to pick up parts, and ship them out

to my customers. I no longer have the time to take and fill orders, or

maintain the web site. I will leave the Tips section on-line, however. I

won't be doing the tachs any longer either, but all the info is in the

Merkur archives to fix them yourselves.

It was not my intention for TTT to be shortlived, but life handed me a

different script to work from.

I'm sorry that yet another 2.3 vendor has to bow out of the market.

Besides, I need to go work *hard* for a while, so I'll have the money to

build the XR of my dreams!

I'd like to say that TTT was successful at getting hard to find parts, or

regular parts at good prices, to those who wanted them. On the other hand,

sales were *not* what might be called "explosive". So, support those

vendors who HAVE, and will sell to you, the parts that you need, to keep

our cars going. Neil at NSPS, Nick at Modern Performance, Chris at Midwest

Merkur, Racer Walsh, Lou Fusz Ford, Jim Dingle at PPI, and Dave Planakis at

Advanced Auto Tech are all people who can help you out. See the TTT Links

page to contact them.

Thanks must go out to those customers, who trusted me enough to send me a

money order for parts. The internet is an unregulated place but if you

follow your nose, you can usually figure out who to trust. I'm happy to

say I never had a complaint from any of my customers. And I never had bad

money passed on me. So the internet is a viable medium for commerce.

(duh)

On the personal side...

I will stay on the Merkur listserver, but posts from me will be few and far

between. I'll be in digest mode and probably won't read the mail but once

a week. So those immediate responses from me are history. To the many

friends, I've made online, and will surely communicate with much less often

in the future, best wishes, and hopefully I'll see many of you at Nashville

or Carlisle!

As for the SVO and TC listservers, I will continue to maintain them. As

long as they don't interfere with our corporate email, they should last

indefinitely.

Cya, and keep the boost up!
