Hey Brett,
Here are my impressions on the Cobra and a
comparison.
After two weeks with driving the Cobra I love the back roads
more than before. First, the suspension is much tighter (as it should
be,,,1988 vs 1998) But in general, the spring rates are higher, and the
17' 245/45's give a hell of a lot better grip than the 225/60/16's that
the TC had. I would still like a stiffer ride, and a little more camber
on the wheels, but other than that it is great. On the open road the cobra
is much nicer, the seats are great, and above 90 mp/h the rear
spoiler really makes it's presence known, above 125 mp/h there is no
shaking (like my TC had) and it is still pulling quite hard. (NOTE: peak HP is
at 6000 RPM's and torque is at 5000)

The only real comparison left is flat out accelleration. Hands
down, the cobra has it at low end. But above 30mp/h it would not have
been able to keep up. The cobra needs a downshift to brisk
passing/rapid acceleration, while the tbird just had to wait for the turbo
lag to stop, and then in 5th gear it would fly from 80 to 130+. Possibly
if the Cobra had comparable gears (3.55 and a 5th of .79) it would be
different.

Winner: I still don't know, I love the Cobra, but it just isn't my TC...
