EEC-IV reference books
To be able to work on a Merkur XR4ti, a Mustang SVO, or a Turbo Coupe, you need a good resource library. You especially need to know how to repair and maintain the Electronic Engine Management system, EEC-IV, and it's related components. Here are two books that are indispensible!
Allan Slocum has put it all together in this EEC book. It's terrific, explaining the sensors and values for the engine management system. Highly recommended, and the only known common source for all this info.
These are available from several places, but I sell them as delivered by Priority Mail, and I stock them. So if ya want one quick, her ya go!.
Anybody who has one of these cars and doesn't buy
this book, is a FOOL! I have the OTC breakout box with manuals, the Mitchell Online
system, and yet alot of the information in this book is NOT in these references.
This book has it ALL together in one place!
Dave,
I just thought I would tell you that I got the 2.3 Manual in the mail today and was very impressed. I feel that I will use the majority of the info testing and fixing my car by the time I drive it again next spring. Well worth the cash.
Thanks a lot

I wrote the forward to this book, and here it is:
Welcome to this, the ultimate EEC-IV informational source related to the Turbo 2.3 engine!
You hold in your hands, the most complete collection of data regarding the EEC-IV in Ford's 2.3 turbo cars, outside of a very few individuals' private libraries! Many hours of research, testing, and just plain backyard "tinkering", have led to the information contained in this manual.
The information presented here should give you a solid start, on the road to maintenance and successful modification of your 2.3 turbo.
Many people have previously searched out the data in this manual, with significant time and effort. Nowhere else before, was all this information available, in one place, at such a reasonable cost, and in plain language that's understandable. This manual is designed to jump start your knowledge of the EEC-IV systems, and to save you the time and effort, that the contributors spent collecting this knowledge.
Allan's personality is evident in this manual, and also in his car. He has taken a systematic approach to upgrading his XR. Making sound modification decisions, on the road to improved performance, based on scientific principles, not marketing hype. His willingness to share the knowledge he has gained, has been helpful and informative. Not only with suggested improvements, that work, but the knowledge of what he has tried, that proved to gain nothing. This scientific method of modification is indicative of his inquisitive mind, and the engineering discipline he is schooled in. I'm always interested in what Allan has to say, because it's always been worthwhile!
Allan put great effort into this project, with input from many internet friends and 2.3 "gurus". Mike Fleming, the technical director for the SVO Owner's Association, Roland Zuk from the International Merkur Owner's Network, and several others, including myself. I'm proud to be associated with these people in such a worthwhile endevour, and I sincerely hope you find the answers you're seeking, within these pages.
I suggest you treat this book well, because you will be referring back to it many, many, times!
Covers Cars and Light trucks Including 1992
From the leader in diagnostic procedure development and training programs. 636 pages!
If you are attempting a swap of a turbo engine into another car, then you need this book. It has drawings showing the pinouts for the ALL of the EEC-IV systems from 1983 till 1992. It is also a good book for learning how to test various sensors.
Mechanics paid much more than my price for this book when it first became available.
Here it is, at a hobbyist's price.
