Tachometer Repair for the Merkur XR4ti

We can supply you with a replacement tach for your XR, that will last!

Yes, you can solder your cold solder joints, and get your tach working, but will it be calibrated? No.
Will it have a medical grade pot that won't lose it's setting, and give false readings. No.

I invented the "Merkur Tach Repair" service.   (now copied)  and I've done dozens of these things.

If you need detailed instruction on removal and shipment of the tach, click here.

Capabilities

Adjustment Pot Replacement:
We replace the problem prone adjustment potentiometer, with a medical grade one. This type is sealed against most environmental factors, and will retain it's setting much longer, if not virtually forever! This is the cause of incorrect readings across the tach's entire range.

Resolder Connections:
We resolder all the input connections to prevent a common "cold solder joint" problem. This usually fixes most dead tachs. It is also a good preventative measure, if yours is still functioning.

Calibration:
We calibrate the newly repaired tach, at two points on it's scale. The Xr's tach is not very linear, but this gets you very close at the important points on the scale.

Pointer Fixing:
We glue the pointer to the meter shaft, to prevent the pointer from shifting, after driving on bumpy roads.

We can repair YOUR tach.  The repair cost is $40, but you must include a refundable $50 core charge, or your old tach.
OR
You can order a rebuilt tach for $90, which includes a refundable $50 core charge.    Then, when we receive your core tach back, we'll send you $50.

Please insure your old tach, when shipping it. If it arrives physically broken, we cannot use it as a core and must charge you the core fee.
